CAPED Interest Group
What is the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing CIG?
The Deaf and
Hard-of-Hearing CIG is a special interest group within the CAPED organization.
The purpose of this special interest group is to facilitate the exchange
of information among personnel providing services for students with
hearing loss in the college setting.
Over
the past few years, we have been meeting at the CAPED conference in
the Fall, as well as at other regional
and national conferences. Our members are directors, faculty and
staff at community colleges and four year institutions throughout California.
We welcome anyone who provides services to students who are D/deaf,
late deafened, deaf-blind, or hard-of-hearing, and to anyone who is
interested in learning more about this population.
Generalist counselors who have only a few deaf or hard of hearing
students on their case loads are strongly encouraged to attend meetings
and get involved.
